Here is my other deal for today to share.....

I believe that "Living on Less" really does mean "not living without". We just have to find other ways to get or do things we want. My boys LOVE the sandwiches without the crust. I just can't bring myself to pay over $5.00 a box for only 8-12. So, I make my own with a pastry cutter/crimper. I make them once a month and it takes about 1 hour. I can make 48 sandwiches out of 4 loaves of the "inexpensive" white bread. I use Ziploc freezer pint size bags for 2 sandwiches. I throw them in the freezer and pull them out in the morning and they defrost by lunchtime. I want my kids to feel like they have the same food their friends have at lunch time - not that their parents are pinching pennies. Kids already have too many things to worry about and lunch shouldn't be one of them. Here are some pictures in case you want to make them too.

What a wonderful idea! I babysit and this would be a great lunch idea. Where did you find your cutter? Once I have one of those I will be off to make those yummy little sandwiches. I find my bread a the day old bread store and I can get a loaf of the really expensive bread for $1. I usually stock up on it so I will have a freezer full of bread.

Melissa,
Mine cutter is a Pampered Chef product called the "Cut n' Seal". But I have seen other generic brands out there. Good luck!

When the sandwiches thaw out are they soggy or anything?I am definately going to buy this cutter and create a stockpile of lunch sandwiches.

I love your blog. Thanks for the great information. You have helped me stockpile and save money which is so important to me. I also love your slowcooker book and blog. I've got a slowcooker meal planned for tonight!

What do you do with all the crust? I have wanted to do this for a long time, but I can't figure on wasteing all the crust. Maybe you can convince me to do it. :)

With the leftover crust, I dry it out and crush it up for bread crumbs. These also freeze well! (And yes, I do have another freezer in my garage:)

Im sorry, if I may, don't the crusts already have whatever it is you have on the sandwiches? Like PB&J? I think that is why Im wondering. Thank you for responding so quick.

When I make the sandwiches, I onlly put about 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and 1 tablespoon of jam in the MIDDLE of the bread. That way I don't gum up my sealer (which I also spray with nonstick cooking spray to guarantee a clean release). This is a great way to not waste any peanut butter or jam, too.
