Inexpensive Homemade Decor

Home decor can cost a lot of money. I would like me home to look nice, but refuse to pay the cost most stores ask. I have always tried to find other ways to get the same look for less. I thought I would share one of my favorites.

I saw this pattern for beautiful curtains a few years ago and decided I would like to have them for my home. The problem was the pattern was too small and I can barely sew. (My mother tried to teach me, I wasn't that thrilled a the time......unpicking just wasn't my thing;) Anyway, thanks to my friend Teresa, I have these curtains in my dining room and kitchen. She took her sewing experience, fixed the pattern and helped me sew them. After they were done, I really wanted some rings to hang on the tabs, but wouldn't pay $8.00 for 4 rings....I needed 24!!!!! I had some toilet paper cardboard rolls and decided to wrap them with black cording I already had at home. They look great!!

The next time you want something you see, don't say "no" to yourself, just ask if there is another way to get the same look for a lot less money.
